Personal Diary of Zed

About Me
This is a little weird to write because this is my personal diary, but I guess if someone were to find it or stumble across it, they should probably know who I am.

Hi! I’m Zed. If there’s one thing you should know about me it is that my life-long dream is to grow up and be a DRAGON! It’s all I’ve ever wanted. You see, being a Kobold means you are pretty small and the world likes to pick on you. Even worse, I’m a pretty small Kobold, so everyone is picking on little Zed.

I like to label my diary entries, but they show up with the newest entry first. So if you want to avoid secrets and spoilers, you'll have to visit the end of the diary to get to the beginning. Tricky aren't I?!

Week 12 - Caravan

1/27/2022

So there we were, just floating down the river, headed to Baldur's Gate. We were greeted with a giant bridge. I'm talking HUGE! There were even houses strapped to the sides of the bridge. One of the houses though, they didn't do a very good job. It fell into the river!

Mordoc, the protector that he is, decided that we should try and save anyone that may have been in the house. It was a great recon mission. Mordoc kept diving in and grabbing anyone he could see, Pátrin was talking to turtles and somehow they were helping. I was keeping watch of our egg while this was all happening.

We saved a family of four. They were very grateful and they helped point us to where we needed to go. They asked if there was anything we could do to further help them. I know what it means to not have much and to try and live. We had just come into quite a good amount of money that I have no reason to have. I gave the family 20 gold to start their life over. They were joyful and couldn't believe it. The little girl ran over to me and gave me a hug and said that I needed to have her dolly. After some discussion, I accepted the dolly and put it in my bag and a token.

Just after saving this family, our goliath friend, Lately Food, woke up from a deep slumber and we had to play some catch up. Learned that Lately Food has a real name, Baalor Kisk. If you ask me, Lately Food is a fun name. We get into the docks and are met by a guard. He was a real shady fellow. He wanted to confiscate everything, INCLUDING OUR EGG! Pátrin though pretty quickly and offered the guard a drink. I don't know what is in it, but it was strong enough to put the guard to sleep. We quickly hopped off our boat, laid the guard in, and pushed the boat back into the river.

Baldur's Gate has so many people, it was very unnerving trying to navigate. Thankfully, Baalor picked me up and I rode on his shoulder through everything. We met with a vendor and we got hired as help for his caravan. We were able to have our own cart and get to keep our egg a secret.

The caravan is headed to a place called Waterdeep and we're gonna be on the road for a while.

Along the way, we found a guy buried in the dirt up to his head. It was really weird. Baalor pulled him out of the ground like a carrot and it was silly. I noticed he had a tattoo like Leosine, so I got to talking. Turns out we're on similar missions, but it was my choice as to whether he joined us. I got nervous and played it safe and sent him on his way back to Baldur's Gate. Hope that doesn't come back to haunt us.

We also saw some folks fighting over some treasure that fell off a cart. I think we're doing everything right.  There was one more thing. One of the people fighting over the treasure ended up dead a few days later. Mordoc says they were poisoned and Pátrin figured out which cart it might have came from.

A problem for a different day I suppose.
