Personal Diary of Zed

About Me
This is a little weird to write because this is my personal diary, but I guess if someone were to find it or stumble across it, they should probably know who I am.

Hi! I’m Zed. If there’s one thing you should know about me it is that my life-long dream is to grow up and be a DRAGON! It’s all I’ve ever wanted. You see, being a Kobold means you are pretty small and the world likes to pick on you. Even worse, I’m a pretty small Kobold, so everyone is picking on little Zed.

I like to label my diary entries, but they show up with the newest entry first. So if you want to avoid secrets and spoilers, you'll have to visit the end of the diary to get to the beginning. Tricky aren't I?!

learning and level up

After running from the campsite, the party is setting up the campsite, which Zed is pretty useless in helping. Instead, he opens up his bag and retrieves this big, dusty manuscript that’s almost as tall as Zed. It’s abundantly clear Zed didn’t have this before the camp visit. Leosine asks where Zed found that item. Zed tells the following story:

After we tied Patrin up, we had to wait for the sun to set. It was a decent amount of time, enough for me to get a little bored. I looked around and saw that I was surrounded by so many Kobolds. It felt a little more at home. Still anxious, but I was definitely not as scared as normal.

I kind of make my way around the campsite and out of curiosity, would carefully poke my head into different tents. If it was a place I clearly was not meant to be, they would just yell at me for being a dumb kobold. A little rude, but whatever.

Then I happen to stumble across one of the treasure tents.

Taken back by all the treasure, I quickly take a step back and look around the tent to see if anyone is around before I could further survey the treasure. There was one other Kobold, and he was fast asleep, holding a vase. Talk about tight security. Sticking out of the vase was this very old, very dusty scroll with a collar or band that looked like a dragon wrapping itself around the manuscript. I didn’t know what it was, but it had a dragon on it, so I had to have it.

I look again to see if anyone is paying attention, and it must have been in between a shift change or something, because no one was paying attention to little old Zed. With the other Kobold asleep, Zed reaches over and quickly nabs the scroll and tucks it into his pack.

Just then, I hear a quick shout “HEY, What are you doing?” Quickly thinking on his feet, I bonk the sleeping Kobold awake.

“I saw he was sleeping and we don’t sleep on the job!” I shouted.

“Right, well, the new shift is here, move along.”

Having had enough of a solo adventure, I made my way back to the party as the night settled in.

Leosine asks Zed what the runes are, and Zed easily identifies that the manuscript is “The Way of the Ascendant Dragon. Leosine leads Zed through the initial lessons, and after those lessons are shared, Leosine returns the manuscript to Zed. Leosine encourages Zed and sees great courage within Zed, but it is hidden by fears. Once Zed can figure out how to relieve himself of those fears, true greatness can then shine.
